Privacy Policy & Data Transparency

Comprehensive disclosure of our data safety, permissions architecture, local networking framework, and AdMob integration for Multi Phone Speaker.

1. App Overview & Architecture

Peer-to-peer synchronized audio streaming

Multi Phone Speaker is an Android application developed by Roshan Varma (JEWEALITY). The primary function of the app is to allow multiple Android devices on the same local Wi-Fi or portable hotspot network to connect together and play audio in synchronized harmony.

Zero Cloud Audio Transfer: All audio streaming, playback commands, volume synchronization, and session handshakes happen strictly over local peer-to-peer TCP/UDP socket connections. Audio files stored on your device never leave your local Wi-Fi network and are never uploaded, stored, or recorded on any remote cloud server.

Privacy Commitment: We do not require account creation, social login, phone numbers, or credit card details to use Multi Phone Speaker. The core utility operates independently of any personal identity.

2. Data Collection Principles

What we do and do not collect

We adhere to strict data minimization principles. Below is an explicit categorization of information handled by the app:

  • No Personal Identifiable Information (PII): We do not collect names, addresses, emails (unless you contact technical support), phone numbers, or passwords.
  • No Voice Recording: The application does not listen to microphone audio, perform covert recording, or monitor surrounding sounds.
  • No Media Harvesting: Audio files are accessed only via explicit Android Storage Access Framework (SAF) / MediaStore when you intentionally choose songs or pick a custom folder. We never scan private photo galleries, documents, or personal files.
  • Custom Folder Selection (SAF): When choosing music via "Select Custom Folder", the user explicitly selects a directory via Android's official Storage Access Framework (ACTION_OPEN_DOCUMENT_TREE). The app reads only standard audio file formats (MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, M4A, OGG) to extract title, artist, and duration for your local playback queue. No files are altered, uploaded, or exposed.
  • Temporary Peer Network Data: Device names, local IP addresses (e.g., 192.168.x.x), and session tokens are held ephemerally in RAM during active playback solely to maintain the local audio socket connection. They are discarded immediately upon ending the session.

3. Android System Permissions Justification

Declared in compliance with Google Play Policy 2026

In accordance with Google Play's 2026 Target SDK and Permissions Policy, every requested permission serves a direct, transparent user feature:

Permission Target Android Type Legitimate Purpose & Usage
NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES Android 13+ (API 33+) Local Discovery Used strictly with neverForLocation flag to discover and connect nearby speaker devices over local Wi-Fi. No physical GPS location is ever tracked.
READ_MEDIA_AUDIO / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / SAF Directory Picker All Versions User Media Required exclusively to enable the user to pick local music files or select custom music folders for playback. We never access photos, videos, or external documents.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS Android 13+ (API 33+) Foreground UI Required by Android to display the continuous playback notification (Media Session controls: Play, Pause, Next, Stop).
CAMERA All Versions Contextual Scan Contextually requested only when the user taps "Scan QR" to join a session. The camera feed is analyzed in real time on-device; no images or videos are ever captured or saved.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK Android 14+ (API 34+) Background Audio Mandatory system permission to maintain uninterrupted audio stream synchronization when the screen turns off or the app is minimized.
INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE All Versions Network / Ads Used for local Wi-Fi socket communication between host and speakers, and to load Google AdMob advertisements.

4. Google AdMob & Advertising Policies

Transparent monetization, publisher rules, and consent

To keep Multi Phone Speaker free for all users worldwide, we integrate third-party advertising via Google AdMob (provided by Google LLC).

Google AdMob may collect and process pseudonymous device-level data to serve relevant banner or interstitial ads, prevent fraudulent clicks, enforce frequency caps, and generate anonymized aggregate statistics.

AdMob Placement Standards & Policy Adherence (2026):
  • Anchored Adaptive Banners (320x50 Adaptive): Placed above the bottom navigation bar with a dedicated fixed-height reserved container (zero Cumulative Layout Shift) and a minimum 8dp safety margin to completely prevent accidental clicks.
  • Interstitial Ads (Full Screen): Shown only during natural task breaks (such as when joining a session, when a peer device connects, or when changing tracks/folders). An enforced frequency capping cooldown of at least 60 seconds prevents repetitive or disruptive ad triggers.
  • No Ads on App Launch / Exit: In strict compliance with AdMob policies, advertisements are never shown during app opening (Splash Screen) or upon app exit.
  • Google Advertising ID (GAID): Used in accordance with Google Play's Advertising ID Policy for ad measurement and fraud prevention.
  • Coarse Location / IP Address: Derived from standard internet requests to serve regionally relevant ads.
  • Diagnostics & App Performance: Crash traces and ad render latency metrics collected automatically by the Google Mobile Ads SDK.

Compliance with Google Publisher Policies:

  • We never engage in artificial click generation, incentivized ad clicking, or deceptive ad placement.
  • Ads are distinctly framed and never overlay primary audio controls, sliders, or play buttons to prevent accidental clicks.
  • EU User Consent Policy (UMP SDK): Users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the UK are presented with Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent dialog compliant with GDPR and TCF v2.2, allowing them to choose personalized or non-personalized ads.

6. Local Storage, Data Retention & Deletion

How user preferences and cache are managed

Multi Phone Speaker stores minimal configuration data (e.g., custom device name, default volume, low-latency toggle, QR size) locally on your device via Android Jetpack DataStore.

Data Deletion Rights: You can completely erase all local settings and cached artwork at any time by selecting "Clear Cache" in app settings, or through your phone's Settings → Apps → Multi Phone Speaker → Clear Storage / Cache. Uninstalling the app permanently purges all associated local files.
